The Colorado League of Charter Schools is a Colorado nonprofit, membership-based charter-school organization. In the current source set, its most important durable role is as the FY 2024 U.S. Department of Education CSP State Entity grantee for the Great Schools Colorado project.
ED award records list the League as grantee for S282A240003, the Great Schools Colorado CSP Project, with a five-year duration, $17,702,194 for Year 1 activities, $30,255,525 for Years 1 and 2, and $68,146,405 initial total expected funding. Current League/GSC program pages later report a September 2025 supplemental award of $9,345,389, for a project total of $77,491,794.
The evidence supports the League as a pass-through grant administrator, technical-assistance convener, and charter-sector support organization. It does not by itself prove League control over local authorizers, school boards, subgrantee governance, State Board appeal outcomes, or downstream political coordination.
The League's September 27, 2024 press release describes the organization as nonprofit and membership-based, representing Colorado charter schools and families of charter students. The same release says ED selected the League to administer $68 million in CSP funding through Great Schools Colorado and to support 30 subgrant awards plus technical assistance for new, expanding, and replicating charter schools.
CDE's February 23, 2024 transition note gives the strongest transition context. CDE explained that ESSA broadened the State Entity category beyond state education agencies to include charter school support organizations, state charter authorizer boards, and governors. CDE said the League would represent Colorado in applying for the next State Entity grant and that CDE would support the League application because no state may hold more than one State Entity grant.
