This source cluster preserves official Henry Luce Foundation pages relevant to a discovery scan for Trump/MAGA connections. The official sources support three kinds of finding:
- a formal Clare Boothe Luce Program governance structure in which the Heritage Foundation appoints three members of a six-person selection committee;
- Luce grantmaking and public statements around democracy, civil society, press freedom, religion in public life, January 6, and Christian nationalism;
- board/personnel facts that help classify later shared-personnel or policy-domain intersections.
The sources do not support a direct Luce grant to a Trump campaign, MAGA committee, Project 2025, Heritage Foundation grantee relationship, or a Luce endorsement of Trump/MAGA politics.
The cluster includes Henry Luce Foundation grant pages, news posts, board biographies, and the 2026 Clare Boothe Luce Program guidelines PDF. Several HTML pages were retained through Jina Reader markdown because direct fetches were unreliable; the original URLs are preserved in each capture.
- The Clare Boothe Luce Program selection committee is structured with three members appointed by the Heritage Foundation and three by the Henry Luce Foundation.
- The 2026 guidelines list the current selection committee as Joanne Berger-Sweeney, Amy Liu, David Madigan, James Piereson, Brandon Simmons, and Bridgett Wagner.
- Luce announced in June 2025 that it would increase grantmaking by up to
$25 million over two years for democratic institutions and civil society.
- The first grants from that initiative included
$1,000,000 to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, awarded June 4, 2025, in the Democracy, Ethics, and Public Trust program.
- Luce awarded
$1,000,000 to PRRI for Religion and Renewing Democracy, with an award date of March 11, 2021, under Religion and Theology.
- Luce's own published material discusses January 6, supporters of Donald Trump, religious rhetoric, Uncivil Religion, and Christian nationalism.
- Luce's grantee-news material includes a Trump trade-policy article by a Luce Scholar.
- Luce board pages identify Sewell Chan and Kevin Gover as board members; Luce's Sewell Chan biography says he serves on the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press board, and Luce's Kevin Gover announcement says he was Smithsonian Under Secretary for Museums and Culture.
- No official Luce source in this cluster shows Luce making a direct grant to the Trump campaign, a Trump PAC, MAGA Inc., Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation, America First Policy Institute, or another explicitly Trump/MAGA-aligned entity.
- The Heritage-appointed CBL committee structure does not by itself show coordination with Project 2025, Trump campaigns, Trump administrations, or MAGA movement operations.
- Luce discussion of January 6, Christian nationalism, or Trump trade policy is thematic or policy-domain evidence, not evidence of support, sponsorship, influence, or shared intent.
- Luce grantmaking to RCFP or PRRI does not establish that Luce endorsed every activity or publication of those recipients.
- The CBL-Heritage selection-committee arrangement is the strongest direct institutional bridge found in official Luce material.
- The June 2025 democratic-institutions announcement is a plausible second-Trump-administration policy-domain intersection, but the official Luce text speaks broadly about stress on partner fields and democratic values; it does not name Trump or MAGA.
- Luce's religion-in-public-life article is direct evidence of Luce platforming analysis of January 6 religion, Trump supporters, and Christian nationalism.
- Board/personnel facts create reviewable shared-personnel checks with RCFP and Smithsonian/National Portrait Gallery sources.

¶ Evidence limits and open questions
- The capture did not include a full scrape of all Luce grants or all annual-report PDFs.
- The current CBL guidelines list committee members but do not say which named members were appointed by Heritage versus Luce.
- The CBL structure appears to derive from Ambassador Clare Boothe Luce's will; this legal/governance origin should be inspected before interpreting it as a present-day strategic alliance.
- The June 2025 democratic-institutions response is plausibly related to the second Trump administration's pressure on civil society and institutions, but the official source does not explicitly say that.
