The official chronology places LaValley as a TCA board candidate in February
2014, a director and vice-chair by August 2014, chair in 2015 and 2016,
and an ASD20 director beginning in 2017. He became D20 president in November
2021 and resigned effective November 29, 2023.
No contemporaneous 2013-2015 news item or inspected TCA board record names a
book he complained about or challenged. The documented public record instead
begins in 2022, when he urged D20 parents to inspect libraries and organize
like-minded objections. In 2023, he publicly supported administrative removal
of sexually explicit books, after which the district restored the books and
returned to its challenge process.

The strongest unresolved source gap is documentary: obtain TCA and D20
reconsideration forms, challenge/complaint logs, committee findings, library
withdrawal records, and the three missing 2014 TCA minutes for August 1,
2013, through August 31, 2017. Search LaValley name variants and preserve
the disposition of every responsive title. That request can confirm or falsify
the remembered private-parent episode without backdating the documented
2022-2023 record.
