William J. Bennett, also referred to as Bill Bennett, appears in this repository's Jefferson Classical Academy source cluster because the JCA application names him as Founding Provost of the Jefferson Classical Academies.
The same application describes Bennett as a former U.S. Secretary of Education and author of The Book of Virtues. It says he would support student and parent outreach with social media posts, recorded messages, emails, and related tactics; lead Socratic learning sessions with parents; and connect JCA parents with parents from five other classical schools for which Bennett is also provost.
Separately, a retained 2001 Wired source reports that Bennett and Knowledge Universe Learning Group formed K12, an internet-based K-12 school venture. That background supports Bennett's older online-school / school-choice lane, but it is not direct evidence about JCA governance.
An external Bennett-Wilson relationship screen on July 9, 2026 found no direct inspected-source relationship between Bennett and Doug Wilson. The screen documented Wilson's ACCS / Logos / Canon / New Saint Andrews / Christ Church lane separately from Bennett's JCA / K12 / school-choice lane.
| Source | Target | Mechanism | Flow | Evidence strength | Source basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| William J. Bennett | Jefferson Classical Academies / JCA model | Founding Provost role described in application | Outreach legitimacy, parent engagement, classical-virtue framing | Direct application text | JCA application |
| William J. Bennett | K12 | Formation of online-school venture with Knowledge Universe | Online-school / school-choice enterprise background | Reported source | Wired 2001 capture |
| William J. Bennett | Doug Wilson | None found in current source set | None | No support / source-set-limited negative | Negative application, repo, and external ACCS / media-context checks |
The JCA application supports Bennett's described provost/outreach role. It does not show Bennett signed the application, served on the Colorado Choice Schools board, controlled JCA, funded JCA, selected ACCEL, negotiated the management agreement, or had a relationship with Doug Wilson.
