The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation is a Milwaukee private grantmaking foundation. ProPublica lists Lynde And Harry Bradley Foundation Inc with EIN 39-6037928, ruling date 1943-02-01, NTEE T21, and latest profile tax period 2024-12-01. The ProPublica profile lists assets of $993,446,884 and income of $250,046,474; its 2023 990-PF filing summary lists total revenue of $30,987,418 and ending assets of $987,072,699.
The Bradley Foundation's own website describes it as a private grantmaking foundation based in Milwaukee. It states a mission to restore, strengthen, and protect the principles and institutions of American exceptionalism and identifies four grantmaking principles: Constitutional Order, Free Markets, Civil Society, and Informed Citizens.
CMD reports that the Bradley Foundation contributed $3.2 million to Freedom Foundation from 2018-2023, making Bradley the largest known Freedom Foundation funder identified in CMD's analysis. CMD also reports that Bradley has supported public-employee union opt-out campaigns and that internal files praised Freedom Foundation's anti-union work.
This funding connection is important for the Freedom Foundation / Teacher Freedom Alliance lane, but it should remain attributed to CMD until direct Bradley 990-PF grant rows are extracted and preserved.
The Bradley Impact Fund is a separate Milwaukee public charity / donor-advised fund in the Bradley ecosystem. Its own website says donors receive donor-advised-fund benefits plus strategic advantages provided by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, and says it was the first donor-advised fund / 501(c)(3) public charity affiliated with a private foundation.
Current sources support an institutional affiliation and shared ideological / donor-service context between the Bradley Foundation and Bradley Impact Fund. They do not show that Bradley Impact Fund directly funded Freedom Foundation or Teacher Freedom Alliance.
The archived April 12, 2024 SourceWatch page identifies the Bradley Foundation as formerly known as the Allen-Bradley Foundation, established in 1942, and self-described as a private independent grantmaking organization based in Milwaukee. It also points to CMD's Bradley Files reporting and broader SourceWatch contribution tables.
